A Gun

I read an article about Gun Control. After the movie theater massacre in Colorado, many people talk about the guns. The article which I read says government should lose Gun Control. If you hear only this words, you might imagine an author of this article should be a extremist. But it's not true. His opinion is a following paragraph.

After Barack Obama became a president, he didn't say anything about Gun Control. So we have to protect our life by ourselves. If a private security is allowed to have a gun, it would be much safer than now. Even today the situation is such that security guards check people's possessions at airports or major sports venue . And if there are security guards with guns in theater, playgrounds, supermarkets and the other places, it would make killers under control. Even though people feel like a police state, we have no choice to protect our life from killers.

This opinion is a kind of understandable, but I don't think it's a good idea. I'm Japanese, and we are not allowed to have a gun. But we don't think we have to protect us by ourselves with guns. We believe if we all don't have a gun, it decreases a risk that a person kill people with a gun. It's not a perfect idea as well because we can buy a knife and any other potential weapons at any stores. Only I want to say is that "don't think that having a gun protects you."

We know a human is not perfect. If you have a gun, you might want to use the gun like you drink too much even though you know you will get hangover next day. Everybody loses restraint. Hangover is your problem, but if you kill someone with a gun, there is no mending.

I know gun control is such a big problem in the USA. The USA is the country of freedom. But don't forget that having power is not only an answerer.
